Student Devotions - Thursday, October 30

Good morning students,

I spoke to you yesterday about decisions we make as leaders and followers. I told you that our God never forces us into anything but has given us the great Councellor, the Holy Spirit,to guide us through the choices we have. Yet, he leaves the decision for those choices in our hands with the understanding we will be held accountable for those decisions.

More and more, every day the world is souring toward Christianity. It is the powerful media and the elite of our world who want us to hear their opinions. There is nothing wrong with this because we have been having them listen to us for a long time. However, my fear is that you would take their opinion as truth, because that is how they present it. My fear is that you would fail to understand that you have a choice here; to listen or walk away; to listen and accept or to listen and question.

We have been trying to teach you to investigate not just the information but the source of everything presented to you. In investigating the source we are asking you to consider what interest they have in producing what they have and recognizing any bias they have. The Apostle Paul invited people to investigate, to ask questions, to seek the truth themselves. I want you to listen to this interview on a new movie that is out. I want you to tell me if the producer and director have based their movie on fact or opinion:

I want you to tell me how you react to this interview. Is it opinion or fact? How do you respond to it? Whatchoice do you hace with this?

It is sad to see those who are so 'intelligent', so talented, so self assured and so wrong. Considering that the Word says in Romans 1 that God has made the truth available to them, I wonder what circumstances arose in their lives to cause them to bring such mockery against their Creator. To answer your question, is the movie based on fact or opinion, I think the speaker answered this himself. He is offended by the very fact that there are those who believe, and is using his offense to place himself in a very dangerous position. The Word tells us that offenses will come against us, but woe to us if we allow thoses offenses to come between us and God. Lord, save us from such things.

Opinion or fact:
Opinion.
Obviously these guys have never really read the bible. Maybe they have. But it seems that it is possible they may have had some dealings with 'religious' people (Christian or otherwise) that didnt sit well with them, maybe something bad happened, I dont know. People always seem to notice when a Christian does something wrong because they think that we are trying to be a perfect people, which I guess in a way is true, but we are not a perfect people, that's why we have all these wars and stuff. One mistake can easily become someones grounds for attempting to disprove truth. We should be really careful how we live. Especially in these last day.
Maybe if they read the bible and paid attention they would see the rather obvious signs around them. God help us all.
I dont really understand the last question you posted, Pastor Paul.....
*and please tell me I got my point across and you understand what Im trying to say, Im not very good with wording opinions. :S*

Naomi is right, i don't think that these people actually read the bible and if they did the did go in depth. If they did, they would probably have a different perspective on this movie the made and on the bible it self. I think what they did was look at everyone opinion and then put it together like a documentary. without see the only true opinion on the Bible.....Itself

Well, I think that it's opinion not fact, and I agree with what comments were already said. But there was one thing that I DID agree with them about and I think was very true. When they were talking about meeting some people who said, "Well, I believe in Jesus but I don't believe in that Bible stuff," and he was saying how could they not, when the only way they know about Jesus is through the Bible. They were right in the that it doesn't make sense. The only way you can know Jesus is through His Word. But he wasn't just a character in some book, and I think they might have to find that out the hard way.

I definitely think that this was an opinion and not fact. They obviously never read the Bible before, and those that have can tell right away that these guys haven't. Almost everything they said was a lie. Except for, as Ray pointed out, what they said about believing in Jesus, but not in the Bible. He said that was crazy, which is 100% true. It is crazy.

i think its is opinion. I think it would be a boring and wierd movie too. I agree with all the tuff that everyone said. Like Naomi said A christian does one mistake and everyone notices it and a big deal about it.

I think it's opinion. I also don't have much to say other than what the others have said. But when he said it was "God's will" for him to make that movie..wow.

I see that as an opinion because I don' think everyone see it like that.
